Sam’s story: Prompt care prevents blindness
While reading the newspaper on a Saturday, Sam suffered a retinal tear, which can lead to blindness if not treated immediately. Concerned about getting prompt care on a weekend, he called a doctor in the family who recommended going to California Retina Consultants (CRC)–a specialty clinic which receives support for efficient operations and care as part of Cencora. The CRC doctor left a medical conference to treat Sam, who was subsequently diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Satisifed with the care he received for the retinal care, Sam continues to see his CRC physician for management of his AMD.
What Sam has to say:
“Without this treatment, I would most likely be blind in both eyes. I can’t think of a bigger impact on my life. I do a lot of contractual reading, and I could not get that done without the diagnosis and care I got right away. I would not trust anyone else with my eyes. My doctor is so involved with clinical trials, which means he knows what’s going on practically up to the minute, and he is already talking about future solutions for AMD that will involve fewer shots.”
Christine’s story: A life-changing delivery
Christine was thriving in her career as a professional musician when she discovered a lump near her collarbone, which turned out to be Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After trying numerous therapies including chemotherapy and radiopharmaceuticals, Christine was told to get her affairs in order, as she was running out of treatment options. It was participating in a third clinical trial that led to Christine’s remission. The next critical step was a donor bone marrow transplant, which carries a survival rate of only 30%.
Christine beat the odds, with the transplant resulting in a consolidated remission. What she didn’t realize at the time was the life-changing delivery was made by World Courier, Cencora’s global specialty logistics company, ensuring the bone marrow cells reached the hospital at precisely the right temperature, just in time for her procedure. Cencora is devoted to the ‘behind-the-scenes’ operations of healthcare that, with deep attention to the needs of patients and clinicians, can lead to remarkable outcomes like Christine’s.
What Christine says:
“I remember seeing the box with the donated cells stated, ‘World Courier’, and I had no idea what that meant. I just knew that box was my only lifeline. As I began to speak out about my journey, I met the people who work in the companies that create the medicines, those who package medicines and put labels on boxes, and those who transport them. I want to say thank you to every single person that works on these things because they saved my life… and I’m just one story amongst thousands and thousands.”

Brynn’s story: Collaborative care drives healthy outcomes
Brynn was experiencing high blood pressure with numerous, extremely high spikes–which puts patients at risk for heart attack, stroke, vascular and organ damage. Because she resides in a rural area, Brynn was referred by her doctor to McDowell’s Pharmacy, part of Cencora’s national independent Good Neighbor Pharmacy network, to help her control her blood pressure. Brynn’s blood pressure was managed closely as part of the pharmacy’s remote patient monitoring program. Ultimately, her Good Neighbor pharmacist recognized that Brynn may benefit from a medication change and worked with her doctor to get a new prescription and provide adherence packaging, to help Brynn organize her medications. After just two months, Brynn’s overall blood pressure had significantly improved with a 13% decrease in systolic blood pressure.
What Brynn says:
“Having my local pharmacist supporting me and working in partnership with my doctor made me gain control of my blood pressure and feel much healthier overall.”
